Awesome Hair Picks from Shea Moisture

Awesome Hair Picks from Shea Moisture

It’s been a while since a hair post but I’m finally getting a chance to share what goes on my hair + what is working to keep my curls in check. The easiest way is to go product by product. Now I don’t use all of these at once or even everyday. If I’ve conditioned my hair in the shower chances are I don’t need to put anything else in my hair unless I’m doing a particular style. Otherwise it’s a quick spritz of water with my handy little spray bottle + a finger comb thru of a moisturizing styling cream or gel.

Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner

I’ve only used this as a deep conditioner + for the $10 price tag you don’t get a very large bottle but it works like a charm. On my deep conditioning days no products or even a comb was necessary. I know results may not fair the same for everyone but my curls were beyond perfect using this.

What I do:

Apply the conditioner to my {wet} hair + then using one of my hubby’s old t-shirts {dampened}, it is cut open from one side + the collar + sleeves have been cut off to maximize size, wrap it around my head + leave on for about 20-30 minutes. Then I rinse with cool water.

On the days that I don’t condition my hair I use one of the following products depending on the day.

Shea Moisture Coconut + Hibiscus Hold + Shine Moisture Mist

I mostly use this when I’m in a hurry to get up + get out the door. It’s extremely moisturizing, like a water + cream in one if that makes any sense. It sprays out like water but feels like melted coconut oil. A little goes a long way + it smells amazing!

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

A few times a month I use henna to color + deep condition my hair. It works amazing wonders so pretty sure I’m hooked but the days following my henna treatments I use this. It isn’t clear like the mist but works just as well + is heavy enough to get through my curls + down to the root giving my color a glossy boost + allowing a skipped day or two of the whole co-washing regimen.

Shea Moisture Coconut + Hibiscus Curling Souffle

This one is tricky. And at first when I was trying to figure out exactly how to use it I was stumped. It’s a gel but unlike one I’ve ever used before. Being used to the gel sticking to your hair as opposed to your hand this one easily frustrated me. After reading the instructions for the millionth time I started to using it very sparingly mixing water in as I work it through my curls with my fingers. And voilà! We have a soft holding gel! So now this is my favorite. Got it mastered down to applying in the shower hence cutting down on some of that girly time {as my husband likes to put it} I spend in the mirror + I get flawless well-behaved curls every time.

I find these products locally at Target + Walgreens + they range from $10-$12 each.

Hope you enjoyed my hair share=) If you have a product recommendation, question or suggestion please feel free to leave a comment for me.

I just bought the smoothie and I really like it. I’m confused about the gel though, are you supposed to use it alone or with one of the moisturizing products?

Hey Fee. The thing about the gel is that is has no slip to it so it feels difficult to work with at first. What I do is work in section by section using mostly my fingers. Once I have the gel where I want it I dampen my fingers {with a little water} + go over the gel to smooth/thin it out a bit. Hope this helps=)

I love the smoothie and I’m going to have to try the spray, it sounds awesome!
